The Problem
"This is my third time in your chair."
I cut several men's hair a day, and they almost never pre-book. More than once I've introduced myself to someone who told me it was the second or third time I'd cut his hair. I couldn't put the face with the name.
Then I'd ask the same questions as last time: work, kids, pets, where he lives. And every one of them expects me to remember his clipper guard number.
Between back-to-back clients there's no time for real notes. Those good conversations were slipping away, and so was the chance to make someone feel remembered.
